Jeremiah 10:23-24
23 I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself,
that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.
24 Correct me, O Lord, but in justice;
not in your anger, lest you bring me to nothing.

Abba Father,
How prone we are to want to lead and rule our own lives. How we wrestle for control! How foolish is this! Jeremiah says it well; “I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not man who walks to direct his steps.” We were never meant to lead and rule our own lives. We just make a mess out of it. We were meant to follow You, to trust You, to submit to You; Your leading and guiding in our lives. We were meant to live under Your Lordship.
“Correct me!” Correct us! Teach us, Father! In your love, as our Father, don’t let us pursue after idols (Jeremiah 10), after created things instead of the Creator. Instead, instill in us a deep love and longing for YOUR person and protect our hearts from kingship tendencies! Let us find joy and peace in the surrender of Your lordship in our lives as we entrust them into your capable and mighty hands! When we stray, when our hearts become captured by idols of this world, correct us, but don’t destroy us. Guide us back to you and capture our hearts once more with the beauty and glory of Your mighty name!
Amen!
