Abba,

Distraction.  Stress.  Insane busyness.  Overcommitment.  Overburdened.

These…these are our biggest enemies at times.  They distract and take away our time and attention from the greatest treasure in all the universe…YOU.  I know I feel it…everyday.  My heart longs to slow down and be with you and yet…life refuses to cooperate.  Today Abba, as I pray for the dearly beloved members of your body, I would begin by asking for a moment of stillness and peace in our lives today.  A moment (or two, or three) to slow down and simply spend it in your presence.  To shut down the chaotic mess of our lives and be recharged and refueled by spending some unhurried, alone time with our God, Our King, Our Savior, Our Father, Our Friend, Our maker and sustainer.  May we sacrifice something in our busy schedules today in order to make it the highest priority of our day.  May we be drawn and enticed into your presence as we reflect upon the wonder of your majesty and glory!

As we find ourselves in that moment…may we reflect upon the wonder of these words…

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. (2016). (Jn 10:27–30). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.

Your power, your grace gives to us eternal life and it cannot be snatched from us!  Salvation is secured by the power of Your might and not by the work of our hands.  May this truth compel and motivate us to walk worthy, to walk righteously, to walk justly, to walk pleasing to you!  May it give hope and courage in the midst of our shockingly dark world.  May it give perspective to the things we value and hold dear.  May it strengthen our resolve to love and adore You as we see clearly what a mighty, majestic, and marvelous God we serve!

You are alone are worthy!  May we take time today to reflect upon those truths!

We love you!

Amen
