God, the Gentle, Mighty Warrior

10  Behold, the Lord God comes with might,

and his arm rules for him;

behold, his reward is with him,

and his recompense before him.

11  He will tend his flock like a shepherd;

he will gather the lambs in his arms;

he will carry them in his bosom,

and gently lead those that are with young.

Abba,

The contrast between YOU as the MIGHTY Warrior whose arm RULES for Him….and the Shepherd whose tender and gentle arms cradles the lamb next to His Bosom is astonishing!  Few things in our world today display this partnership in order to model for us what this looks like!  Our mighty warriors bristle at the thought of tenderness and gentleness.  In fact, it would seem, gentleness and tenderness is the antithesis of MIGHT.  It’s considered a weakness and vulnerability.

And yet, here they are, entwined together.  THE MIGHTY RULER and The gentle shepherd.  You exemplify the perfection of both…………at the same time!  How beautiful and magnificent is that glorious picture!  How our hearts yearn for one such as You!  Our souls ache and our hearts plead for the love and embrace of the one who personifies so perfectly the one who has the MIGHT to protect but also the gentle heart of compassion, mercy, and grace.  No, Abba, no…no earthly example can compare.  We yearn for you!

You alone…YOU ALONE are worthy of worship!
