Resting in the Security of God

Abba,

Deeply impressed upon my heart today is the need for each of us as Your children to find our rest and security in you.  What happens when tragedy strikes if this is not true of us?  We despair.  We become angry and embittered.  We become disillusioned and lost. No one, no thing, nothing should replace YOU as the center of our universe; the center of our lives.

My heart grieves and is broken for those lost in our world.  My heart aches for those whose hearts and minds have been devastated by loss, grief, sorrow, hurt, pain, loneliness, emptiness, vanity, and every other sort of trial and hardship tossed at them.  What’s worse, some of them have intellectual knowledge of the truth and yet still find themselves lost in the brokenness of this world.  My heart aches for them Abba.

In our grief; in our sorrow; in our pain; in our loneliness; may we not be destroyed.  Protect us, El Shaddai, from the devastation that comes with the pain of living in a broken world.  Protect us by helping us make YOU the center of our universe!  For if YOU are the center of our universe, when loss comes, when pain comes, when trials come, we have ALMIGHTY GOD, EL SHADDAI, to cling to, to find hope in, to find comfort in, to find rest in, to find peace in, and to find refuge in.  When you satisfy the longing of our souls, life may hurt, but it cannot destroy.

Protect us Abba.  May we rest in you today.

Psalm 63:5-8

My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich foods and my mouth with praise you with joyful lips when I remember you upon my bed and meditate on you in the watches of the night for you have been my help and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.  My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.

Amen.
