Abba,

The promise encompassed in Lamentations 3:22-24 has become a precious promise to me in recent years.  Foundational even as I return to it time and time again in the daily battles of life.  The fact that your mercies are new everyday, that you supply each day what is needed to be victorious that day, is a MUCH needed promise in my life.

However, I failed to read on. 

Vs. 25-26 – The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.  It’s s good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. 

Preaching through Genesis 25, Part 2, considering how Sarah and Rebekah both had to wait for 20 years for children, and being challenged about the need to WAIT upon you, to trust you to fulfill your promises in your time and way and tying that trust to my SSA struggle and battles in life has been challenging. 

Now this….Again being told it is GOOD to wait upon the Lord.  It just confirms and solidifies that your intention at times is to make us wait, because it is good for us and your accomplish your will in it

Abba, teach me to wait. Teach me to wait quietly, patiently, with joy. Trusting that you have a VERY good reason for making me wait.

Why this theme keeps surfacing seems clear.  It is on the forefront of your desire for me; for us to learn.  I cherish the truth of these verses…

Lamentations 3:22–24 (ESV): 22  The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;

his mercies never come to an end;

 23  they are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness.

 24  “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,

“therefore I will hope in him.”

The reliability and consistency of your mercies DAILY in our lives to sustain, protect, guide, heal, and strengthen our steps is beyond amazing!  I return to this truth over and over again in my life to fortify me for the challenges of living in a sin cursed world.

However, I either failed to read beyond or failed to grasp the enormity of the following verses.

Lamentations 3:25–27 (ESV):

25  The Lord is good to those who wait for him,

to the soul who seeks him.

 26  It is good that one should wait quietly

for the salvation of the Lord.

 27  It is good for a man that he bear

the yoke in his youth.

The Lord is GOOD to those who WAIT for him…

And again

It’s GOOD that one should WAIT quietly….

The theme of waiting keeps surfacing.  Considered even this week while looking in Genesis at Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, and Rebekah.  They waited 20+ years for the fulfillment of their hearts desire; for the fulfillment the promise you made to them.

In the waiting, we are challenged with the question of trust.  Will we trust you to keep your word?  Will we trust you to be for us all that you have promised to be?  Will we trust your timing and will no matter how many years it takes?

Now again here….It is GOOD to wait.  It is GOOD to wait QUIETY.  IE patiently, with joy.

Father, we may not always understand.  But may we ALWAYS trust and wait with Joy recognizing that it is GOOD for us; that is works a weight of eternal glory and good that we can only seem dimly now, but one day will see in full brightness and we will marvel at just how good it was.

We love you.  We trust you.  We wait with joy.
