Psalm 27:8

You have said, “Seek my face.”

My heart says to you, “Your face, Lord, do I seek.”

Abba,

You want me.  You want us.

Jesus, you opened the way.  Your own body and blood serving as the gateway for us to come.

Spirit, you intercede, praying on our behalf with groanings too deep for words.  But you know, Father.  You hear.  You understand.

Jesus, you sit at the right hand of Father and intercede for us, advocating on our behalf.

Spirit, you bring to remembrance truth.  You call to mind faithful words of life.

Abba, you sit waiting, with eager anticipation.

The joy at our seeking; at our coming is palpable and fills all heaven with delight!

All heaven celebrates when a sinner repents.

Prayers of the saints fill your abode as a sweet fragrance, an acceptable offering.

Your ear is ever attentive to our cry.

How is it, Abba, that heaven is so filled with delight when creatures of earth seek you?  How can you love us this deeply?

I know.

Because you are love.

And it was this reason for which we were created.

To know you.

To be intimate with you.

To glorify you.

To be satisfied in you.

So then, may we come.

You invite us.

Oh God, the one and only great Trinity….

You created us for you.

You sought us when we sinned.

You sent Jesus to live the life we could not and die the death we could not.

You defeated death and the devil in Jesus’ resurrection.

You sent Spirit to live inside and secure those whose faith turns to you in repentance.

You prepare a home more glorious than our minds can conceive.

We are yours.

You are ours.

And you tell us; invite us to come.

Let us come.

May we speak these words with all our being, “Your face, Lord, do I seek.”

When counterfeit pleasures come knocking…

When distractions abound…

When grief staggers…

When trials burn fierce…

When resentment, anger, and bitterness threaten…

When envy and jealousy rear their ugly heads…

May we always remember you who have lavished SO much upon us, your created being.

May we run to you with joy

Crumpling at your feet in exhaustion, thrilled to be in your presence

Resting our head upon your knee

Glowing in the light of joy upon your face

Comforted in the tender strength of your arms as they draw us near

May no place be so secure, so delightful, so cherished, so pursued as this.

There is no place we’d rather be than here.

You invite us to come.

So we come.

What grace to be found in the arms, at the feet, in the presence of our great God, King, Savior, Father, Abba.

We love you.
