
- Cherish the word and time with God as food for your soul – Deuteronomy 32:46-47
- Keep an intentional watch out for that which robs you of nourishment – 1 Timothy 4:16
- Guard your priorities and activities
- Invite others to help
- Learn to say “no.” Don’t so book your schedule that the necessary gets pressed out.
- Beware the dangers of a “worker bee” mentality that causes you to miss the intimacy with God. – Luke 10:38-41
- See yourself and your primary role as a worshipper of God.
- Recognize the neglect of time with God is a declaration of pride – 1 Corinthians 4:1-3
- I.E. Don’t need God; Satisfied with out him; Don’t want God, etc.
- Statement of independence – Which we are not (Independent that is. We are dependent upon God at all times)
- View time with God as more than a checklist item; an obligation; a Christian duty. Count it a privilege, make it a delight. – Psalm 16:11
- When feeling particularly discouraged or distant – set aside (extended) to go and be with God – Make a plan for it – Psalm 46:10
- Take plenty of time to rest and sleep. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is go to bed.
- Take time to be still before the Lord
- Meditate/Journal – Psalm 1:2; 19:14; 63:5-8; 119:97
- Rejoice Always – 1 Thessalonians 5:16
- Pray – 1 Thessalonians 5:17
- Give Thanks Regularly – 1 Thessalonians 5:18
- Be Teachable and Correctable – 2 Corinthians 7:8-11
- Let others help point out when your relationships with God is going off track
- Share, encourage, be challenged in your relationship.
