How does one express the wonder
And amazement
Of a God who draws near?
Most of the world’s perception
Of God
Most of the world’s invented
gods
Never draw near
A divine and powerful God
That draws near
Is foreign to the imaginings
Of man’s mind
Too great to fathom
Too much to hope for
Too deep the longing
Too risky to desire
So even the invention
Of our gods
Keep him aloof and distant
But the reality
Is something else
Something other
Jesus Christ
Son of God
Creator and Sustainer of all known
And unknown things
Came near
We were alienated
Separated
Far off
We had no hope
We were without God
The despair and bleak future
Real and palpable
But Christ
But Jesus
Drew near
To display the worth of His
Own name
To make much of his own glory
To enable us to make
Much of him
To enable us to delight in Him.
By his own blood
He made peace with us
By his own death
Drew us near
In man’s wildest dreams
We cannot conjure
An almighty being
Humbling himself so
In our wildest dreams
We cannot conjure
How one so great
Would bend so low
And isn’t that the wonder
Of it?
The one God
The true God
The Divine King
Is not like it’s feeble creation
He did…
You, Abba, did
Come near
The cross was the path
The blood was the means
To make peace
And bring us near
You came near
You dwell near
Your Spirit abiding here
In each one who repents
Who believes
Who trusts
And in that body of
Believers
In that group of followers
Your image is seen
Your glory is manifest
In the collective
Of Spirit in-dwelt individual’s
Your have come near
And dwell among us
You don’t dwell in houses
Made by men
We are your house
We are your dwelling
What a wonder this is!
What a mystery!
What a rich and incomprehensible
Joy and wonder!
Hebrews 3:1-6
Hebrews 3:1–6 (ESV): 3 Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, 2 who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God’s house. 3 For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses—as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself. 4 (For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.) 5 Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later, 6 but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.
