BE STILL

Two words.

So much depth of meaning.

An invitation.

A command.

A promise.

BE STILL.

“To make the hand go slack”

“To release.  To let go.”

To trust.

To watch for the salvation of God.

To behold the strength and might of El Shaddai

To rest in peace.

To cease fretting.

To fear not.

To take refuge in safety.

To surrender control.

To look up ^

BE STILL

Why do I contend for control

When You have already secured it?

Why I do “white knuckle” life

When it is already within your calm grasp?

Why do I fear, fret, and worry

When you invite me to BE STILL?

Why do I run frantic in the storm

When the door of your refuge stands open

Lights blaring, heat pulsing

Safety and comfort waiting?

Why do fear the might of man

When the might of heaven

Is on my side?

Why do I waste away in anguish

When the promise of peace beckons me?

Why do I languish in trouble

When the invitation of stillness beseeches me?

Why do I test the Lord in disobedience

When the command to rest is given?

BE STILL

Slack the hands

Release control

Come to the refuge

BE STILL

See the strength of God

Behold the salvation of God

AND REJOICE!

Be at peace
