Colossians 1:9 (ESV): 9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
Abba,
We need a knowledge of your will. A knowledge of your will involves knowledge of you. I fear there is too little of such knowledge today. There is too little pursuit of it.
What’s more, there is even less willingness to surrender our will to yours.
Therefore, the prayer is this… NOT ONLY grant us knowledge of your person and your will BUT ALSO grant us a willingness to surrender all unto it.
Your is the only perfect and good will. Yours is the only right and true. Yours is the only free from flaw, error, or distortion. May we seek YOUR will AND may we surrender gladly to it.
Give us both the desire to seek and surrender. The desire much out of necessity come from you, for it will not come from us.
Spirit, work your work of might and strength in us. Overcome the inclinations of the flesh, and give to us all that is unnatural for the flesh. Give us the supernatural of your grace and let us live according to your will, for the joy of your glory, and the deep satisfaction to comes from a life of surrender.
We love you,
Amen.
