18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Is 1:18.
Abba,
The only means by which we find deliverance from our sin and its righteous judgement is through Your Son’s blood and sacrifice for our sin. If we try to find deliverance through our own righteousness and our own works, we will find that our guilt remains and that it is a grievous burden to bear. The harder we try, in fact, the more guilt we will help upon our heads. The pride of thinking we assuage Your holy wrath with our own works convicts us of our very need to depend upon You.
BUT, when we surrender to You, when we trust Your work, Jesus, to satisfy Your own holy wrath, well, then we find the joy of this passage to be true in our life. We find our sins washed as white as snow. We find forgiveness, cleansing, and holiness applied to us from the highest standard and quality. Yours.
Abba, guard our hearts from the pride that would convince us we can come to You with our own holiness and be found acceptable to You. Guard our hearts from the pride that would convince us we have our own righteousness that You find agreeable. May we come humbly, accepting the gift of a Savior, wrapped in death cloths, and laying in a feed trough for animals as the means by which You have chosen to save us from ourselves and from You own holy wrath.
Thank you for the gift of cleansing through His blood. We are wholly undeserving, having no righteousness of our own. Thank You for giving us Yours.
We love you, Abba.
Amen.
