Word of the Day Poem
Helter-Skelter – In headlong and disorderly haste – in haphazard manner without regard for order. Carelessly hurried.

Tick tock whispered the clock
Tick tock, dickory dock
With each successive tick
With every incessant tock
The tick, tock avers its jeering mock
The helter-skelter day awaits
Ding dong sounds the bell
The clamor crescendoing in a clangorous swell
Ding the bell does sonorously fell
Dong each note does thunderously tell
A racketous clamor obnoxiously to tell
That the helter-skelter day awaits
With a cackely coo, Cock-a-doodle-doo
The rooster crows, “Good morning to you!”
With a not-so-subtle cock-a-doo
And an even bolder doodle too
He gives the night a cackling shoo
The helter-skelter day awaits
Honk, honk goes the cranking goose in flight
Getting an early start ahead of morning’s first light
With a trumpetous honk at departing night
And another blithesome honk of rapturous delight
He signals a warning, however slight
That the helter-skelter day awaits
At the days end, Hoot, hoot stutters the owl
A joyful utterance emanating from his jow
With a hearty hoot he sets to prowl
With a hardy hoot he hunts under nights setting cowl
With a final, mighty, serendipitous howl
He marks the end of that the helter-skelter day
As the sun sets upon it’s horizontal frame…
That helter-skelter day awaits, without shame…
For with the rising of the sun, he will break again in mighty refrain…
