Lust does perniciously lie
False promises to maliciously bind and tie
Those who yield will ultimately die
Lust makes unsubstantiated claims
Basing your future happiness on it’s temporal gains
All the while playing wickedly fiendish games
Robbing you of your thankful focus
Stealing gratitude with a hocus hocus
Centering your gaze on an unclaimed locus
Forgetting what you mercifully possess
Dissatisfaction you painfully express
“Something I lack” you grievously assess
Restlessly seeking more
Never happy or content therefore
Misguidedly seeking pleasures galore
Temptuous anger flares and scares
Leading to many tears and affairs
Destroying relationships in bears of nightmares
Hearts numbed by its cold hand
The demands of promises it cannot withstand
Falling flat on its claims of shifting sand
Lust cannot and will not satisfy
Offering only a sadistic, merciless lie
Delight at your pain welling in it’s eye
Lust is nothing more than distraction
The misguided third for satisfaction
Which can only derive from divine interaction
Lust is the blazing light of warning
That Almighty God we are scorning
Instead of His grace adorning
So let this empty heart be filled
Not with the desires that lust willed
But with the superior presence of God, be thrilled
Run not after lusts empty prattle
But for He who sits on the throne above, battle
Reject lust for what it is, broken attle.
Abba, You are the choicest one
To you all of our days, we ought to run
Until that final day when the last battle is forever won.
