Hello lament, my old friend
We meet once more…again.

Seems like you are never far
Ready to jump back in, you are

Heaviness settles in for the ride
Waves crashing like end of days high tide

Old wounds breaking open once more
New ones rending, adding to the score

Sorrows mounting one on another
Joy and peace they seek to smother

So, I find myself back here
Offering myself to your gracious ear

Lament, my old reluctant friend
You, at the gateway of sorrow do attend

Through you I must meekly come
At heaven’s mercy seat to find welcome

And there, true and lasting help is found
For from You, Abba, all grace does abound

You know grief best of all
Having met it on a cross, dark and tall

There is no grief too deep
That Your tender hand cannot meet

So, once  more, as grief rises
I come to you who knows no surprises

I leave my burdens once more
At mercy’s and grace’s open door

You will meet me in my sorrow
And lend me your strength to borrow

Until this stage of grief passes
I will cling to you in these dark morasses

You will see me through
I put my trust fully in you.
