Courtesy, respect, and honorable conduct, esp of men towards women

What has happened to chivalry?
To the treating of women
with value and respect?

What has happened to courtesy
and the performance of dignity
motivated by common decency?

In part, man grew selfish
Care for the women
we were created to protect was lost

In part because pride
politicized chivalry away
as sexist and condescending

In part because busyness
and the pursuit of progress
caused us to ignore chivalry’s value

And things that should not
be lost, were lost
Things we should have honored were ignored

And now an entire generation 
knows little to nothing
of how to show honor and care

An entire generation no longer knows
how to be valued and honored 
Insisting there is only disdain left

Chivalry is lost
Dead and in the grave
or mostly so

“That is progress”
or so they say
so they think…

Too bad it will be little to late
when they realize 
the error of their mistake

Where has chivalry gone?
Where is it now?
6 feet under and rotting away.
