The whole world
feels the dry burn
that separation
from the Living Water brings.
The parchment
The dryness
of separation from
the source.
Like a river
stopped up
blocked upstream
by some alien obstruction
the world feels the
consequential
barrenness.
The obstruction,
believed to be
the answer
to life’s pursuits,
life’s problems,
is enthusiastically
erected.
Believing it has found
a faster,
a better,
a superior
road to satisfaction,
it constructs
and embellishes
an elaborate display,
an ornate
and sophisticated
contrivance
to grant them
their desires.
But it is all a lie
built on false notions,
on cheap imitations,
on flagrant deceptions,
making the very dam
that holds their hope
the very thing
that contributes
to its own pulverulence.
Water
The Living Water
Is all but gone.
Dried up
Cut off
by their false ideals
of improvement.
The path to true
life
True satisfaction
True refreshment
is open.
It is clear
But it is costly.
One’s own life.
The pleasures of sin.
The appetites of
the flesh.
These must be laid down
Immediacy relinquished
Deferment embraced.
Christ laid hold of
The Son of the
Living God
pursued
sought
surrendered to.
Surrendered for.
Oh foolish man
Oh thirsty man,
Tear down the dam.
Let the water
flow.
Stop blocking the way.
The water
you seek,
the nourishment
you need,
the yearning
you pursue
is found
in the crucified
and
risen Lord.
Jesus.
The Christ.
The Eternal One of God.
The Way.
The Truth.
The Life.
The Bread of Life.
The Great I AM.
The Good Shepherd.
The Great Physician.
The Living Water.
Go to the source!
Drink!
Be satisfied!
Let the water flow!
