When I would crave
The crowd’s enthusiastic rave

When I would desire
A bro’s high five fire

When I would pine
The spotlight’s shine

Spirit, direct my gaze
Reorient my ways

Let me behold the Son
Living for an audience of One

Man’s praise wafts hollow
No substance to swallow

Crowd’s fervor ebbs to fade
Five’s fire a fleeting parade

The shine dwindling to low
Receding to dark shadow

Man’s approval falls flat
Disproving its “all that.”

The Creator’s praise
Is the envy of days

His affirmation alone
For and from eternity has shone

Thus, may my passion be
To live for the One to see

Only one’s approval matters
Leaving all others in tatters

For an audience of one
Let all be done.
