2 Corinthians 4:1-6; Romans 2:4
Blindness wickedly blocks
And into darkness — locks.
The adversary maliciously
Not permitting sight to see.
His end, His intent —
On suffering he is bent.
He knows his irreversible error
That has him facing holy terror.
And he longs to drag
All of creation into judgments bag.
He would see us languish
In tandem with his own anguish.
His anger and spite are real
“Stick it to God” is his deal.
His malice so totally complete —
With malevolence alone he does treat.
Robbing God of His glory —
Spiting God is his life’s story.
Going after Elohim’s creation —
Rancor for forfeiting his angelic station.
The adversary has no goodwill
For any but his own thrill.
And so, in darkness he blinds
Hiding truth from men’s minds.
Yet, as strong as he might be,
God is mightier than he.
Into that darkness light comes
Shown into minds dark slums.
Holy light demanding to be heard
Where darkness was once preferred.
Imposed darkness is expelled —
Truth’s barrier graciously felled.
Light flooding with merciful kindness
To end darks terrible blindness.
The grace of God enters, electing me
Enabling my black and terrible mind to see.
Illuminating His magnificent glory
Elucidating gospel’s impeccable story.
I see Him now, vivid and clear
His presence intimately near —
Only because in His kindness
He rescued me from sin’s blindness.
What wonder it is that I see
The beauty and glory that is He!
What wonder that He pursued me
And from death set me free!
Adversary, with your ill will
Be silent, be gone, be still!
No more will you captivate
Or from eternal light separate.
I am His and he is mine!
I have claimed gospel’s glorious shine!
