Micah 5:2
Bethlehem is “The House of Bread.”
I wonder—will I be satisfied with heaven’s spread?
From Bethlehem’s nondescript, provincial town,
Comes the one wearing “The Bread of Life’s” crown.
Will He be my soul’s infinite satisfaction?
Or will I break with flesh’s fickle faction?
The same Hebrew letters form another word—
A word that arms itself for war’s harsh gird.
The imagery seems startlingly clear—
Bringing life’s application painfully near.
Will I be satisfied in Bethlehem’s bread?
Or will I contend with Heaven’s ruling head?
Will He be my satisfaction and joy?
Or to war will I enlist and deploy?
It will be one—or another.
Love God—or love the other.
Choose.
Who will it be?
