Micah 5:2
The heart of our adversary
Echos deeply in our own
“Go big or go home!”
The snaking tendrils cry.
“Bigger is better!”
It maliciously whispers in our hearts.
Then—why does the Creator’s voice
say otherwise?
Why does He cheer in the small,
unnoticed, and the nondescript?
Why does He delight
to show up in the weak and helpless?
Why does He use the “useless”
Or those overlooked and dismissed by others?
Because—because He desires for us
To see—Him.
The Sovereign of all
Wishes our hearts to be satisfied in Him.
When it is full of ourselves,
We aren’t searching or hungry.
“Big hearts,” Spurgeon declared
“Never get Christ inside them.”
So—He delights in empty hearts;
Ready receptacles for His glory.
So—Let not your heart,
Nor let mine.
Be the ape of Satan.
Rather, may they echo the strains of heaven.
