Luke 2:10

The gospel was never meant
To leave us torn and rent.
It was never supposed
To cause gloom’s downcast pose
It was never intended to rob
Or reduce to sorrow’s sob.
The gospel was meant
for joy’s abundance to be spent.
It was supposed
To deliver from grim’s woes.
The gospel’s intended job—
Satiate with joy’s overindulgent throb.
Joy, pulsing with life
Blasting melody like a fife.
Joy, rooted in God’s own Son
Victory over sin’s death—Won!
Cross’s redemption securing hope
Severing noose’s dark rope.
Life winning victoriously
Bringing joy—indulgently!
