Luke 2:8-10

Abba,

Sin separated.
Fear castigated.
Death invaded.

Hope fled.
Fear bled.
Death ran red.

Fear maliciously thundered,
and insidiously plundered
in might of warriors hundred.

Fear is the only true reaction
for sin’s infraction
before Heaven’s exaction.

But then,
mercy ran,
bridging the span.

And in the shine
of Heaven sublime,
Glories greatest prime—

fear fled in haste
as man faced
that which sin had effaced.

Heaven’s glory
ending sin’s story
making it the true quarry.

But glory upon glory,
You left naught to aleatory;
entering our story.

Coming near,
sin’s record to clear.
You removed fear,

settled debts,
removed regrets,
imputed Your assets.

No more need
for fear to bleed
or from us proceed.

You became approachable,
making Yourself knowable,
in grace notable!

Fear’s power gone
with grace’s dawn—
A holy phenomenon!

No distance too great,
nothing now to separate.
Hope need never to wait.

You entered creation
leaving your station
and removed fear’s trepidation.

In grace, we come,
having overcome,
Your children to become.
