Word of the Day — Short Shrift
Little or no attention or thought
Quick Work
Small or inadequate amount of time or attention given to something.
E.G. – Certain neighborhoods have received short shrift from the city government.

The sad reality
of most Christian’s lives
is the short shrift
they give to their
spiritual health.
Most will guard
financial well being
carefully,
managing their ledger
down to pennies.
Most will give
due diligence
to their homes,
cars,
work spaces—
protecting and providing
for those
needs.
And yet
all this—
fades;
perishes—
while that
which lasts forever;
that which
is eternal
fades into
peripheral;
background;
“If there is time left”—
margins of life.
The greatest
sin
of our lives
is
the short shrift
You receive, Abba.
As a result
You sit
sad,
grieved,
knowing what we
are missing;
wanting more
for us;
inviting us to more,
if we would
stop
being so
preoccupied
with
trinkets
to lay hold
of the treasure
that is—
You.
