Word of the Day

Elicit – To get a response, information, etc from someone.

Satan does rancorously entice
out of his own iniquitous vice.

With his own malignant thinking,
he entraps with entitlement stinking.

In pride, did he first heinously tempt;
in arrogance, to the garden he defiantly went.

Believing he deserved divinity,
he enticed man with godlike infinity.

In his own erroneous belief and desire—
in pride—he tricked men to be enmired.

His aim was simple enough—
to elicit rebellion’s dissatisfied huff.

A grand and cosmic coup;
Abba, to stick it to You.

He was, is, and always shall be
untrustworthy in the highest degree.

He is an enemy of eternal proportions,
masticating lies with calculated distortions.

Consumed by self and self alone,
he has no interest, except that of his own.

Claims of his magnanimous care for me—
exposed as malignant lies from the liar tree.

He is forever, first and foremost, Your enemy,
seeking nothing but Your, and my, tragedy.

He seeks no good thing to elicit—
but only, in sin, to make us complicit.

So reader beware—his guile is real—
with smooth word, he attempts to steal—

Glory that belongs to One, and One alone—
Whose worth from eternity past has ceaselessly shone.
