Word of the Day Poem

Piffle – To talk nonsense

Just for fun and for the practice of writing, I have decided to take the word of the day from Dictionary.com and use it as a writing prompt. Piffle was the word of the day for September 8.

Enjoy! 🙂

Ol’ piffle, what a clamor, what a clatter!

Tranquil peace, you stupendously shatter!

Useless and senseless words,

As stenchful as odious turds

So much emptiness, so much vanity,

the makings of insidious insanity

Such prattle and emptiness, piffle.

A senseless and scrufulous drivel

So proliferate is your sway,

injudicious is your wildly wicked way.

Selfish and inconsiderate,

rapidly firing like some treacherously, terrible turret.

Your own ends you seek,

caring not about the mild nor the meek.

Wise in your own eyes,

while blind to the dangerously darkening skies.

Wrath and destruction await

for all those entangled in ol’ piffles bait.

In the end, all will see

just how foolish “good old piffle” can be!
